Field Mouse….A Tanja Berlin Design

It’s been awhile since I shared about the progress on my mouse…this design challanged me….I actually had to put it up for a bit just so it could be thought about and pondered over. Thankfully not to long…wellll…..

It’s Finished!   A scary finish…the kind where a person is wondering if the face is actually going to look like a mouse!

As mentioned in an earlier post the outlines for stitching were pretty faded and depending on the picture was an absolute must…and ‘oh’ the eyes…..get those wrong and Tanja said you should redo them….I really fight redoing if at all possible…Then the design itself is definitely for someone who has confidence in there experience with “needle painting”…The years that Tanja has …totally overshadows mine…

All together now “my” Field Mouse” came out to my liking….hope you enjoy looking at it. Keep thinking there is something else I need to do to it…but I have put the skids on this one and stopped….while I think I am ahead…

      Catherine,
Thanks! My husband even pet it! I did ask Tanja her opinion and she would redo the eyes. I can see what she is saying about them being a little cartoony…I guess because of the designs I have embroidered by Jenny McWhinney I lean toward that look… we have these little “shrews” that live here and the eyes remind me of them..I am hoping in the future to pay attention to the more realistic side of things…although I enjoy the light sidedness of embroidery! Tanja is such an inspiration! Doing these types of embroidery make me smile!

I do see what Tanja means, but I do love the big eyed mouse. I’m (behind as ever!) In the red fox course, difficult to get her life like effects, but I’m loving learning how to do it! It’s nice when our husbands appreciate our work isn’t it?

          Catherine,
Oh yes, and for me having my husband approve is a wonderful thing. Love nature so this mouse fits the bill… Here’s to your fox and the enjoyment it will bring when it is finished! I am sticking to finish the Trevelyon Cap now that I am done with the mouse.. I have another embroidery project I am desperately wanting to start…

Oh wonderful! I look forward to seeing out move that project along. I’m still stuck on the leaves from lesson 2. But I’ve decided to tackle one panel at a time! After the fox and purple pansy the I’m also doing with Tanja!!

The mouse is adorable, Avis! I thought it was a photograph due to the realism. The eyes are staring right at me! Such exquisite shading and detail. Your work is superb!
